In search of a change of scenery I traveled south of the border with girlfriend Niamh in charge of driving duties. We were heading to the Yorkshire Dales for some high speed, rocky action.
The race was unlike anything I'd done before. It was effectively a DH race. Two times runs down the open hillside combined to give you an average. Lowest overall time wins.
I had brought the Stereo 140 29er with me as the rocky terrain and high speed suited the bikes 'charge-ability'.
The racing was tight, fast and loose. High winds swept across the open hillside and at times it felt like I was going to be blown away. I had two fairly uneventful runs. Just kept things smooth and steady. On my second run however I did have an encounter with one of the plastic course markers which got lodged under my bars and made turning difficult.
I ended up getting 2nd place which I was pleased with moving forward to my big races later this month.
